[Call for Nominations for the 2022 UP College of Engineering Outstanding Professor Award]
A. Qualifications for Nominees
a. Must currently be a full-time and permanent faculty member of the UP College of Engineering for at least 5 years, with rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the time of nomination.
b. Must have been in active service in the UP College of Engineering for the preceding five (5) academic years, including years of Sabbatical leave.
c. Must have taught at least 6 units per semester in each of the last 5 years.
d. Must have at least 24 academic load units per academic year.
e. Must not have been found guilty of any administrative or disciplinary charge and must not have any pending administrative, disciplinary, or criminal case.
f. Must be of good moral standing.
B. Requirements for Nomination
Any qualified faculty member may be nominated by a faculty member, student,
alumnus, or staff member of the UP College of Engineering. Furthermore, any
qualified faculty member may apply for the award. Self-nomination is accepted.
A nomination will consist of:
a. A nomination letter signed by the nominator and addressed to the 2022 UP
College of Engineering Outstanding Professor Committee through its Chair.
b. Endorsement by the Department Chair or Institute Director and the
DAPC/IAPC.
c. Peer review by fellow faculty member/s.
d. Duly accomplished faculty merit promotion worksheet with points for the last 5 years. Supporting documents may be required.
d. The curriculum vitae of the nominee.
C. Criteria for Selection
- Teaching effectiveness (40%)
1.1 SET, average of the last 5 years must be exemplary (20%)
1.2 Teaching, course development and mentoring for the last 5 years (15%)
1.3 Peer Review by Faculty Member. (5%) - Enrolment or Completion of Graduate Studies (5%)Note: PhDs earn full points.
- Research and Publications (15%)
3.1 Completed or ongoing research projects in the area of expertise (previous 5
years)
3.2 Publications in the area of expertise (previous 5 years)
3.3 Paper presentations in conferences in the area of expertise (previous 5 years)
3.4 Related academic work or projects undertaken (previous 5 years) - Professional development (10%)
4.1 Courses or seminars attended in the area of expertise or related field
(previous 5 years)
4.2 Membership in academic or professional organizations
4.3 Scholarships, fellowships, and other awards or honors received - Administrative and Committee Work (15%)
5.1 Administrative positions held and committee membership in the
department/institute, college or university (previous 5 years) - Extension Services (15%)
- Decision of the Committee is final and irrevocable.

[Call for Nominations – Outstanding Researcher Award for 2022]
The Outstanding Researcher Award is a recognition given to a faculty member of the College of Engineering for their outstanding research productivity. The award comes with a monetary benefit amounting to P60,000.00.
Minimum Qualifications:
A faculty who satisfies the following qualifications may be nominated:
• On regular appointment (temporary or permanent status) during the period under review;
• Has at least three (3) years continuous active service immediately preceding the nomination; and
• Has not committed acts of plagiarism, intellectual dishonesty and other acts of unprofessionalism.
Criteria for the Award:
Based on the PCA/Promotion worksheet (WS) for the past 3 years prior to nomination, the following items shall be used for the screening of the nominees:
- Quality and quantity of creative work, publications, research treatises and citations of published work. (WS B.1 – B.12)
- Contributions to the mission of the university in mentoring in the form of research advising for undergraduate and graduate students. (WS A.5 – A.7)
- National and international recognition as evidenced by honors and awards, journal editorships and participation in editorial boards, national and international scientific committees and boards, and professional patents, utility models, software copyright, and other IPRs.(WS C.4 – C.5; WS D.2 – D.6)
D. Selection Procedure - The Academic Personnel Committee chaired by the department/institute chair/director shall submit nominees per category satisfying the minimum qualifications. (Self nomination is discouraged. It is assumed that the department or institute has already completed the initial screening before submission to the Awards Committee Chair.)
- The Dean shall appoint an Awards Committee on the Outstanding Researcher Award. The committee shall conduct evaluation of the nominees based on the criteria set for each category.
- The committee will shortlist the finalist(s) for the award based on the criteria listed above. The finalist(s) will be interviewed about their research outputs, projects, impact of their research, among others.
- The committee will recommend to the Dean and the CAPC the awardee(s) for the Academic Year. The committee and the CAPC reserves the right to give the awards to multiple awardees or to not give any of the awards if it deems necessary.
[Call for Nominations – Outstanding Instructor Award for 2022]
The Outstanding Instructor Award is a recognition given to outstanding performance of the College of Engineering faculty at the Instructor Level. The award aims to encourage these Instructors to advance their knowledge and learning and introduce innovations in the various fields of expertise. Any Instructor with excellent /outstanding credentials (indicated in the merit promotion worksheet) in teaching and research, service to the university/community, and professional growth may be considered for the award. The award comes with a monetary benefit amounting to P60,000.00.
Qualifications for Nomination:
- Must have served the University of the Philippines College of Engineering as Instructor for at least two (2) years.
- Must have at least a 1.75 SET score for a period of two years prior to this call (Verified by either HRDO or Head of Unit or Chair of Dept.)
- Must not have been charged or has any pending administrative or criminal cases involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination.
Requirements for Nomination: - Any qualified/eligible Instructor may be nominated by a faculty member, student, staff member or REPS of the UP College of Engineering.
- A nomination will consist of
a) A nomination letter signed by the nominator and endorsed by the Dept. Chair /Institute Director, addressed to the 2022 UP College of Engineering Outstanding Instructor Search Committee through its Chair, Dr. Florencio C. Ballesteros, Jr. (fcballesteros@up.edu.ph)
b) Curriculum Vitae of the nominee.
c) Description/narrative of accomplishments with supporting documents of the nominee (e.g., FSR AY 2020-2022, SET scores, certificates of awards, membership in organizations, etc.)

[Call for Nominations for the Outstanding REPS Award 2022
College of Engineering Complex, University of the Philippines-Diliman]
The Outstanding REPS Award 2022 (ORA) is a form of recognition for outstanding performance of REPS in the College of Engineering Complex. The award aims to encourage the REPS to advance knowledge and learning, and introduce innovations in the various fields of expertise. Any REPS member with excellent/outstanding credentials in research, service to the university/community, and professional growth may be considered for the award. For this year, one (1) REPS member will be awarded the Outstanding REPS Award of P45,000.00.
Requirements for Nomination:
- Any qualified/eligible REPS member may be nominated by a faculty member, student, staff member or fellow REPS of the UP College of Engineering Complex. Furthermore, any qualified REPS member may apply for the award.
- A nomination will consist of:
a) A nomination letter signed by the nominator addressed to the 2022 UP College of Engineering Outstanding REPS Search Committee through its Chair.
b) Curriculum Vitae of the nominee.
c) Description/narrative of accomplishments with supporting documents of the nominee.
Qualifications for Nomination: - Must be a permanent/ temporary/UP contractual REPS COE member, and should have served the University of the Philippines College of Engineering as REPS for at least five (5) years.
- Must have at least a Very Satisfactory (VS) performance rating in the last six (6) consecutive periods. (Verified by either HRDO or Head of Unit or Chair of Dept.)
- Must not have been charged or has any pending administrative or criminal cases involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination.
- Must not be the Head of a Unit/ Department having more than 5 REPS under him/her.
- Awardee can be nominated again after three (3) years.
Criteria for Selection - Significant contribution to the Engineering Complex, University (for the past five (5) years) as Research, Extension Services, Professional Staff (50%)
- Educational Attainment (15%)
- Relevant Training Courses/Seminars (10%).
- Years of service as REPS in the Engineering Complex (15%)
- Awards and Recognition (10%)
