Itanong Kay Engineer (IKE) is a one-hour radio program devoted to discussions on science, technology and engineering concepts in relation to issues and problems affecting Philippine society and the rest of the world. This program is a collaboration between DZUP and the University of the Philippines College of Engineering (UP COE).
Guest engineers and experts, mainly from UP COE, industry and government agencies, are invited over to discuss a variety of science and engineering topics every week. The guest plays the role of the teacher/professor and discusses the topics in layman’s term to the hosts who act as students. The program also talks about the current activities (faculty, students, research, events etc.) of the UP College of Engineering. Trivia: the hosts call themselves classmates.
The program first aired on November 2010. UP COE Former Dean Aura C. Matias had some discussions with DZUP personnel and agreed that the College of Engineering will host one of the programs in the Radio School segment of DZUP. The program aims to (1) promote science and technology and their role in our society thru radio broadcasting, (2) share information about engineering projects and technologies that can be applied to address our problems in the society, (3) and to introduce the different fields of engineering to a wider audience.
